Record Ratings for ‘The Inner Circle’ as Series Reaches Halfway Point

Since its launch on 4th October, The Celebrity Inner Circle has consistently been the most-watched programme in its slot every Saturday evening. This weekend’s episode peaked at over three million viewers with a 28% audience share (source: Overnights.tv). In comparison, ITV’s Tipping Point: Lucky Stars peaked at 1.26 million viewers during the same slot. The Celebrity Inner Circle was also the third most-watched family show last Saturday, behind Strictly Come Dancing and The Weakest Link.

Meanwhile, the weekday version, airing at 4:30pm, continues to perform strongly – attracting average audiences of around one million viewers daily, with figures steadily growing since launch.

Together, these results highlight how The Inner Circle is resonating with audiences across the BBC schedule – establishing itself as one of the broadcaster’s most successful new entertainment launches of the year, and a major new format for Zinc Media Group.

The launch results speak for themselves:

Created by Zinc’s Scotland-based production label Tern TVThe Inner Circle emerged from a fiercely competitive BBC tender for a new quiz show. Kate Phillips, Director of Unscripted at the BBC said:

“The BBC asked for a format the whole family could enjoy. We saw over 120 pitches, and The Inner Circle stood out for its layers and originality”

The launch of The Inner Circle marks a major milestone in Zinc Media Group’s genre diversification strategy – representing our first move into entertainment formats and the culmination of several years of focused investment in this space.

The launch was supported by a significant press and marketing campaign led by our in-house Marketing and Communications team, including a premiere screening, press junket, journalist set visit, targeted press releases, and an extensive social media push. The campaign has so far generated over 300 pieces of press coverage across radio, television, and national press – including a takeover of The Sun TV Biz page – and has generated a wave of positive audience sentiment, some of which are below.

From an investor perspective, the scale and success of this campaign underline Zinc Media Group’s increasing marketing capability and brand influence within the entertainment space. The strong launch not only reinforces The Inner Circle’s commercial potential for format and distribution sales, but also strengthens Zinc’s position as a diversified content group, capable of creating and promoting IP that delivers both audience reach and long-term asset value.

We had the joy of hosting the official press launch for the Inner Circle with Amanda Holden ahead of broadcast.

Following an exclusive screening of the first celebrity episode, Amanda was joined by Sarah Parish – a member of her very own Inner Circle – for an intimate chat about the show, filming in Glasgow, and what this exciting new step in her career means to her. The discussion and subsequent interviews generated a large volume of press for both the show and Tern TV, as well as the Group.

The launch campaign was amplified by extensive social media activity across Zinc’s owned channels, the BBC and BBC iPlayer platforms, and creator accounts including Joe Baggs and Charlie Marlowe. It was further strengthened by regular posts from Amanda Holden herself, shared with her 2.6 million engaged Instagram followers.
