Miriam Margolyes Made Me Me from BAFTA-winning director Simon Draper

We’re thrilled to share that Miriam Margolyes Made Me Me, an extraordinary behind-the-scenes documentary from BAFTA-winning director Simon Draper, will air on BBC Two and iPlayer this spring.

Shot entirely on Simon’s phone over two years, the documentary started out as a freelancer’s attempt to make a podcast with the legendary actress, but it quickly got sidetracked by Miriam’s chaotic schedule.

Instead, Simon captures it all, becoming Miriam’s sidekick, whilst documenting her brutally honest yet joyous and tender reflections on her extraordinary life. Their bond becomes the emotional heart of the film; revealing how Miriam’s true legacy isn’t just her incredible body of work, but the lives she’s quietly transformed, beginning with Simon.

Boarded by Lana Salah and Rex TV in 2025, and supported with additional resources from across the group, including post production by Gwyn Jones and Bumbleebee, as well as Zinc Distribution, and our marketing & press department, the project is a testament to the collaborative power of Zinc.
